ESM Cambridge(1) at (1) Exports
G#:92 - Thursday, September 02, 2010 - Bridgeport 1
ESM and Exports clashed in a rainy match to jockey for play-off seeding.  Exports opened the scoring after a couple of minutes of sustained pressure led to an opportunity for Ruben to unleash a wicked shot from about 25 yards out that found the back mesh.  ESM tied it up by capitalizing on a turn-over at center, with Mike nestling a low shot inside the far post.  Scoring chances for both teams were few and far between, with the sloppy pitch perhaps contributing, but primarily the D on both sides was solid.  Selcuk tried a long shot when he saw the keeper out, but the keeper recovered to catch it, and I hit (of course) the crossbar with an attempted cross...seems appropriate.  Ben K made a really nice low save in the first half, also.

In the second half, with thing clearing up but growing dark, both teams looked to go ahead.  ESM had the more structured possession, but couldn't turn it into quality chances.  Exports' best chance came when Raf held off three defenders, worked himself a breakaway, but was unable to beat the keeper who made a nice reaching save.

This game started a few minutes late, so I think we played two 40 minute halves, and it ended with a fair 1-1 result.

RTC Friday's Wolves(4) at (2) FC Finest
G#:93 - Thursday, September 02, 2010 - Bridgeport 2

Very competitive game, Finest FC are a great team to play against as they move the ball very well and play tough.  Each team had long amounts of time in each others end, Wolves just finished in front two more times, once with almost no light left.  A couple of chippy moments but overall a clean game, not entirely surprising when a couple of well matched and competitive teams get together.  Looking forward to the playoffs, won't be an easy road for any teams this year!!  Well done on the league title

wolves, time to go for the double!!

Xtreme FC(4) at (1) RDM
G#:94 - Thursday, September 02, 2010 - Gordon Chaplin Park
$0Rain, bad traffic, bugs, changed kick-off time, invisible lines. These excuses do not suffice, do not put us at ease over what happened. RDM started with nine men, but didn't let a goal in until we had eleven (apparently seven of whom were defenders …). After the first goal you could see Xtreme's confidence grow. They played some good football after that, passing well and putting two more in before we could get organized. After that, the game settled and we got one back. A great play from Marcus to put Greg through. A calm finish over the keeper brought feelings of hope. Feelings that died when Xtreme got a fourth. Nail in the coffin. B Cup here we come. We have something to defend. When was the last time a team won the B Cup two seasons in a row? Maybe we can still do something great here?$0
