ESM and Exports clashed in a rainy match to jockey for play-off seeding. Exports opened the scoring after a couple of minutes of sustained pressure led to an opportunity for Ruben to unleash a wicked shot from about 25 yards out that found the back mesh. ESM tied it up by capitalizing on a turn-over at center, with Mike nestling a low shot inside the far post. Scoring chances for both teams were few and far between, with the sloppy pitch perhaps contributing, but primarily the D on both sides was solid. Selcuk tried a long shot when he saw the keeper out, but the keeper recovered to catch it, and I hit (of course) the crossbar with an attempted cross...seems appropriate. Ben K made a really nice low save in the first half, also.
In the second half, with thing clearing up but growing dark, both teams looked to go ahead. ESM had the more structured possession, but couldn't turn it into quality chances. Exports' best chance came when Raf held off three defenders, worked himself a breakaway, but was unable to beat the keeper who made a nice reaching save.
This game started a few minutes late, so I think we played two 40 minute halves, and it ended with a fair 1-1 result.
